Kyra Boorsma Bergerud

Kyra Boorsma Bergerud is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota majoring in Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development.

Her research interests include immunosuppression in cancer, signal transduction, epigenetics, and inflammation.

“To better combat MDSC-mediated radio resistance and immunosuppression in radiation therapy I am studying the effects of conventionally fractionated vs. ablative radiation therapy on cellular interactions in the tumor microenvironment. Through non-cancerous CNS tumors, I am investigating the impact of dose fractionation on MDSC and TAM accumulation and expression. In addition to this work, I am examining the relationship between STAT3 and CCR2 expression in regulating circulating M-MDSC mobilization and activation.”
